Here’s the prize money payout for each golfer at the 2025 Sony Open in Hawaii

It was Nick vs. Nico to decide the winner of the PGA Tour’s first full-field event of the year, the Sony Open in Hawaii. After Hideki Matsuyama blitzed the field at The Sentry last week at Kapalua, Nick Taylor and Nico Echavarria both shot final-round 65s to head into a playoff. Ultimately, Taylor birdied the second playoff hole to take the victory, his fifth PGA Tour title. He earned $1.566 million from the $8.7 million purse. Echavarria took home $948,300.

J.J. Spaun and Stephan Jaeger, who both tied for third place, looked in control of the tournament for a large part of the final round Sunday. Both men parred the easy par-5 ninth hole, then Spaun finished with eight pars and a bogey. Jaeger made a birdie and a bogey over the final nine holes, which opened the door for both Taylor and Echavarria. Taylor chipped in for eagle on the last hole to end at 16-under-par total and Echavarria matched him by making birdie on two of the last three holes. Both men made birdie on the first playoff hole and Taylor pitched his third shot close the second time around for an easy birdie, while Echavarria missed his birdie from seven feet.

Eric Cole was in solo fifth place and four men tied for sixth place. Amateur Luke Clanton earned a sponsor exemption after playing in eight PGA Tour events in 2024, collecting four top-10 finishes, including a T-2 at the John Deere Classic and the RSM Classic. But he missed the cut by two shots. He’s still very close to earning his PGA Tour card through the PGA Tour University Accelerated points system.

Last year Grayson Murray won the event with a long, dramatic 40-foot birdie putt on the first hole of a playoff against Keegan Bradley and Ben An. Murray tragically took his own life four months later.
