The tour was back at Jack Nicklaus’ place with the top players in the world playing in another signature event, the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village in Ohio. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler was the defending champion and back to attempt to win his third event of the year, following the CJ Cup Byron Nelson and PGA Championship. And … he did it, cruising to his third victory this season and third in his last four events.
The victory earned Scheffler $4 million from the overall $20 million purse. He was the first player to repeat at the Memorial since Tiger Woods won three straight from 1999-2001.
Ben Griffin, following up his victory last week at the Charles Schwab Challenge, ended in second place, four shots behind. Sepp Straka was third, Nick Taylor was fourth while Russell Henley and Maverick McNealy tied for fifth place.
The RBC Canadian Open and the U.S. Open at Oakmont are the next two events.
