The DP World Tour’s Volvo China Open was back for its 30th edition, with an increased prize fund to $2.55 million.

As the third stop on the Asian Swing, this event plays a key role in the 2025 Race to Dubai. Even more importantly, players were chasing the Asian Swing Rankings knowing that a top-three finish at the end of the stretch will punch their ticket to the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow—a golden opportunity for those looking to make their mark on the global stage. The top three prior to the event were Keita Nakajima, Eugenio Chacarra and Richard Mansell.

The tournament’s defending champion Adrian Otaegui returned to defend his title in China, but he was not the only one to watch out for at Enhance Anting Golf Club.

There were eight players in the field with DP World Tour wins already in the 2025 season – Elvis Smylie, Johannes Veerman, Shaun Norris, Alejandro del Rey, Dylan Naidoo, Calum Hill, former LIV Golfer Eugenio Chacarra and local star Li Haotong, who also won the tournament in 2016.

It was China’s Ashun Wu who produced a sensational final round comeback as he won his fifth DP World Tour title at the 2025 Volvo China Open, almost ten years to the day after he first triumphed at this event.
