The DP World Tour’s 2025 Race to Dubai season continued this past week with the Open de España presented by Madrid, taking place at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, Madrid, Spain, from 9-12 October 2025.
Event number seven on the Back 9, was a $3.25 million tournament, which holds a key place on the DP World Tour’s 2025 Race to Dubai, a season that concludes on the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai, UAE, in November.
The field for the 2025 Open de España was as strong as ever. Two-time major winner Jon Rahm, is joined by fellow major winners Shane Lowry, Sergio García, and Patrick Reed, who added to the stellar line-up at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid.
Three-time Open de España champion Rahm (2018, 2019 and 2022), was bidding to surpass Severiano Ballesteros with a fourth victory and move closer to the record of Ángel de la Torre, who won five titles in his national open between 1916 and 1925.
Club de Campo Villa de Madrid was hosting the $3.25 million tournament for the sixth consecutive year. In 2024, Málaga native Angel Hidalgo piped Rahm to the post in a playoff to claim his maiden DP World Tour title.
England’s Marco Penge beat Dan Brown in a play-off on a dramatic final day of the 2025 Open de España presented by Madrid, sealing his third win of the DP World Tour season and qualification for the Open Championship and the Masters next season.
