2013 Amateur Champion Garrick Porteous has swapped tour life for coaching, by joining the Trump Dubai Performance Academy at Trump International Golf Club Dubai as its newest PGA Teaching Professional.
The two-time HotelPlanner Tour winner, including the 2024 Abu Dhabi Challenge plus a handful of tournaments on the Emirates PGA circuit, has been based in Dubai for the past two years but is now stepping back from competitive golf to focus on developing the next generation of players.

Porteous spent more than a decade competing across the DP World Tour and HotelPlanner Tour, with career highlights that included appearances at the 2013 and 2019 Open Championship and the 2014 Masters as an amateur.
“Joining the Academy is an exciting opportunity to share my experience and help players reach their full potential,” said the 35-year-old. “Every lesson is designed to be practical, engaging, and tailored to each golfer’s goals.”

Alongside his global playing experience, Porteous brings expertise in course strategy and mental preparation, and holds TrackMan Level 1 and Level 2 certification.
He will work alongside Michael Lane, the club’s new Director of Instruction, as part of the Academy’s growing team.
