The first photo of the concession prices at this week’s U.S. Open at Oakmont has hit social media and they seem . . . reasonable?

Of course, these types of things are all a matter of personal perspective. For those of you who attend sporting events where the concession prices don’t burn a hole in your wallet across this great nation of ours, these Oakmont prices might seem a little ridiculous. As for those who frequent arenas like Madison Square Garden in New York City or stadiums like Sofi Stadium in California, than these prices seem cheap.

Here’s a look:

That’s as reasonable as it gets in my eyes.

Then again, if you’re an Atlanta Falcons fan who can get a hot dog and a drink for $7, these prices must seem insane. Again, it’s all personal perspective. If you compare these prices to the prices at Augusta National during Masters week, which is a bit unfair, then these seem exorbitant.

If you compare them to last year’s prices at Pinehurst, they’ve actually gone up a tick.

And here’s a look at prices from three years ago at the U.S. Open at Brookline near Boston:

Those must have been the days.

As for the food, you sort of have to expect to overpay for some mediocrity at an event such as this one. It is a major, after all.
