On a special Ramadan evening, the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) honoured the National Team champions following their historic achievement at the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Golf Championships, recently hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The celebration took place at the farm of EGF Vice Chairman, General Abdullah Alhashimi, in Abu Dhabi. It was attended by members of the Federation’s Board of Directors, parents, and a group of elite male and female players. The evening was filled with a festive atmosphere, reflecting the spirit of family, teamwork, and unity as attendees gathered for a Ramadan Iftar to mark this unprecedented achievement.

The recognition came in celebration of the national team’s outstanding performances, led by champion Ahmed Skaik, who secured the Gold Medal with a record-breaking score of 18-under-par (-18) – the lowest in GCC Golf Championship history. His teammates, Sam Mullane, Jonathan Selvaraj, and Rayan Ahmed, played a crucial role in securing a well-deserved Team Gold Medal. Additionally, Mohammed Thabet claimed the Bronze Medal in the Individual Youth Category, an impressive feat given that he was the youngest competitor in the tournament.
During the event, General Alhashimi addressed the guests, emphasising that this historic achievement is the result of a clear vision and ambitious strategic plans set by the Federation’s leadership, under His Excellency Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi. These initiatives aim to develop golf in the UAE and elevate the level of male and female players to compete on both regional and international stages.

His Excellency Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Emirates Golf Federation, expressed his pride in this landmark achievement, highlighting that it strengthens the Federation’s long-term vision to develop a new generation of golfers capable of representing the UAE at the highest levels. He reiterated that this milestone serves as strong motivation to continue investing in the development of young golfers, particularly junior, youth, and female players, who represent the future of Emirati golf.
