On Sunday, Jumeirah Golf Estates hosted 92 members and their guests for the final Jumeirah Pairs Tournament of the year.
Played in the Pairs Shambles format on the renowned Earth course, the event marked a fitting conclusion to a successful year of Member Events at the Club.
Sponsored by The Brain and Performance Centre, a DP World Company, the tournament featured engaging activations that enhanced the experience for all participants.
Denis and Aleksandr Rozhko claimed victory in the December 2024 Jumeirah Pairs, finishing an impressive 16 under par (net). The father-son team delivered a flawless performance, marked by a string of birdies throughout the round.
Reflecting on their win, Denis shared, “My son and I played incredibly well today. We dovetailed perfectly, which was key to our low score. The Earth course was in immaculate condition, and it was a pleasure to play as always. The greens-keeping team has done a fantastic job this year, and that was evident in today’s presentation.”
Hash Kapadia and Mark Castley finished in second place with a superb bogey-free round of 15 under par, net 57. Their precise play, especially in the challenging, occasionally windy conditions on the Earth course, was highly commendable.
Annabel Ayres and Bradley Webb claimed third place, three shots behind the runners-up. Their strong finish, highlighted by two net eagles on holes 16 and 18, demonstrated their ability to perform under pressure, particularly on the demanding closing stretch of the Earth course.
The Brain and Performance Centre also sponsored a series of exciting on-course competitions, adding extra thrill to the event. Wayne Munro narrowly missed a hole-in-one on the 6th hole, earning him the Nearest the Pin prize. 2024 Men’s Captain Noel O’Leary claimed the Nearest the Pin in Two on the 10th hole, while Louis Thorne took home the sponsor’s prize for Nearest the Pin on the 17th hole.
The event concluded in the Ballroom at Jumeirah Golf Estates, where the prize-giving ceremony took place. Cameron McWhinnie, Assistant Golf Services Manager, expressed his gratitude during the closing remarks: “It’s wonderful to see so many happy faces in the room, not just from those who won the fantastic prizes provided by The Brain and Performance Centre. The unwavering support of our members has made these events a pleasure to deliver throughout the year. We’re looking forward to another exciting year ahead in 2025.”
