The International Series India, presented by DLF, has announced a stellar line-up of LIV Golfers, which includes Bryson DeChambeau and Joaquin Niemann in the US$2 million event.
Set to take place from January 30 to February 2 at the renowned DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurugram, it will mark the first time the LIV Golf-backed series visits the Indian subcontinent.
DeChambeau, who claimed his second U.S. Open victory at Pinehurst in 2024, will make history by becoming the first defending major champion to compete in an official tour event on the Indian subcontinent. With two LIV Golf wins, seven PGA Tour titles, and his two majors, DeChambeau is widely recognised for gaining weight for increased driving distance, to designing his own clubs.
With an online following of 1.6 million on YouTube and 2.1 million on Instagram, the American is also blazing a trail in content creation, helping to introduce a new and important online audience to the sport.
Chilean golfer Joaquin Niemann, captain of Torque GC on the LIV Golf League, is coming off a stellar 2024 season, where he finished as the runner-up in the LIV Golf League individual standings, narrowly missing out on the title to Jon Rahm. Niemann’s season highlights include victories at LIV Golf Mayakoba and LIV Golf Jeddah, along with multiple top-five finishes.
Niemann capped off his remarkable year with a thrilling win at the US$5 million PIF Saudi International in Riyadh, where he triumphed in a dramatic playoff against 2022 Open champion Cameron Smith and Caleb Surratt. That victory, along with a solid third-place finish at the International Series Oman, earned him the coveted International Series Rankings title for 2024.
The International Series India is the first of 10 elevated events on the 2024-25 Asian Tour calendar, a series designed to provide players with a “Pathway to LIV Golf.”
The tournament is part of a broader expansion of the series, with stops planned in a diverse range of markets, including Macau, Morocco, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia. The end-of-season International Series Rankings champion will secure a place in the LIV Golf League for the following season.
