When you think of a fairway wood that checks every box for the mid-to-high handicapper, TaylorMade’s Qi35 Max deserves to be on the short list.
It’s not just forgiving—it’s quietly one of the most complete performers in its category. And the numbers back it up.
Let’s start with two metrics that can dictate distance: spin and ball speed.
Data from recent testing on the Golf Laboratories swing robot reveals a consistent spin band that settles around 3,800 RPMs. It’s what we like to call a “Goldilocks range”—not too high where the ball will balloon, not too low where it dives out of the sky.

This one plays off the tee and from the fairway.
Ball speeds trend in the same direction. We’re seeing a concentration of good shots wind up between 136 and 137 mph, which is above average. But the bigger news is what we’re seeing from the bad shots, where the low end of the speed band stops at 132 mph, great news for those with inconsistent contact.

Only Callaway’s Elyte had a similarly bunched speed range from the 2025 3-woods we tested on the robot.
As for carry distance, Qi35 Max is unmatched, with more balls recorded between 205 and 215 yards than any 3-wood we tested. Sure, it’s not the longest in the marketplace, but it’s efficient. For golfers who struggle with contact and watch their distances fluctuate wildly during a round, it’s nice to know you can miss it and still achieve a playable ball.

Qi35 Max is built for someone who needs some help getting the ball airborne, wants a bump in forgiveness on mishits and craves consistency across the board.
If your 3-wood has been feast-or-famine for far too long, this one has the potential to be a future gamer.
