Over 100 avid competitors took part in the inaugural Captains Trophy on Jumeirah Golf Estates Fire Course this past weekend.

The Pairs Betterball format had two titles up for grabs, in both the net and gross divisions, keeping the day inclusive across all abilities of golf.

Topping the gross division, with a two-under par total and a countback victory thanks to an eagle on the 18th, was the duo of Jayson Hilton and Stuart Carr. Having to settle for second spot was Andy Parks and Christopher Wilmot.

Taking home the net division, with a two-shot victory and eight-under par total, highlighted with nine net birdies and an eagle, was Martin Stewart and Alfie Waters.

During the prize-giving ceremony, Noel O’Leary, Captain of Jumeirah Golf Estates and General Manager of deVere Acuma, who sponsored the event shared his gratitude, “First and foremost, I would like to thank all of you, the players, for supporting me and Anna-Retha as Captains in this inaugural event.

“I am sure Tanya and Rishad next year will make it their own and it will be even better. I would also like to thank Paul McGee, who kindly supported the event with vouchers to his restaurants, Black Sheep and Mezzanine.
