According to the PGA Tour’s TourCast, it was a 151-yard shot that went from a left fairway bunker to the left fairway. For Collin Morikawa, it seemed like a death-defying stunt that almost ended his season.
Morikawa fell to the ground as he played a (possibly overly) dramatic recovery shot on the 18th hole during Thursday’s opening round of the Zozo Championship. He found himself in a tricky situation after a bad tee shot left him with an awkward stance in a bunker.
But with one foot out of the trap, the two-time major champ was able to draw one back into good position on the par 5. Have a look for yourself:

We know the guy is known for hitting a fade, but is it really that hard for him to hit a draw? Kidding, Collin.
As you can see, Morikawa survived the shot unscathed, had a nice little chuckle about it, and seemed impressed with his handiwork. He hit a much more conventional iron for his third shot to give himself a 10-footer for birdie, but missed to finish with a par and a round of 69. After, he joked about the shot on Twitter:

Lesson learned. But maybe it’s for the best if you don’t try that at home, folks.
