This past week, the Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club hosted the Clutch Tour’s first event of the 2025 season. With the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) sanctioning the event, it marked the first of three championships set to take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this year.
A total of 154 talented professional and amateur golfers competed for a £50,000 prize fund, battling for both prestige and a career-defining opportunity. Callum Farr delivered a stellar performance, carding a 12-under-par total to claim victory in the season opener.
The Clutch Tour and the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) kicked off 2025 with a landmark partnership, securing three international championships in the UAE. The first event, held this week in Al Ain, marked the beginning of an exciting season, with the tour set to return in October to crown its champion.
Recognised as the United Kingdom’s and Europe’s leading development tour, the Clutch Tour offers unrivalled incentives and pathway opportunities. All Clutch Tour events in the UAE provide Official World Ranking Points and a direct pathway to the HotelPlanner Tour and the DP World Tour. Callum Farr’s victory this week secured him a place in the HotelPlanner Tour event next month in Al Ain, which is co-operated by the EGF and the European Tour Group.
As part of its agreement with the Clutch Tour, the Emirates Golf Federation has received 20 invitations to support the UAE National Team, the Emirates PGA, and UAE Golf Academies, providing a platform for elite amateur and professional golfers. In addition, the EGF is collaborating with regional and international federations to strengthen relationships and partnerships across the golfing world.
“We at the Emirates Golf Federation believe the Clutch Tour plays a pivotal role in elevating both professional and amateur golf in the UAE and the wider region. While other parts of the world face seasonal challenges with weather and course availability, the UAE offers year-round, world-class conditions, making it the ideal destination for the Clutch Tour to both launch and conclude its season,” said General Abdullah Al Hashmi, Vice-Chairman of the Emirates Golf Federation.
“What sets the Clutch Tour apart is its commitment to inclusivity. Unlike any other professional tour in the GCC, every event in the UAE features opportunities for female golfers, reinforcing the region’s vision for progressive and accessible golf development. We look forward to seeing the Tour’s continued growth and impact in the region,” General Al Hashmi added.
With momentum building, the Clutch Tour now heads to Oman, with back-to-back events at La Vie and Al Mouj Golf in March.
The season will then concludes with two thrilling UAE events in October, culminating in the highly anticipated Tour Championship at Al Hamra Golf Club.
