With his 15-time major-winning pops in attendance, Charlie Woods struggled to an 11-over 81 on Monday at Brook Hollow, one of two Dallas sites hosting the stroke-play portion of this week’s U.S. Junior Amateur. That all but ended any chances of making the 36-hole cut for the 16-year-old son of Tiger Woods.
Charlie, who is set to be a junior in high school this fall, got off to a much better start on Tuesday at Trinity Forest, playing his front nine in even-par 36. He had an under-par round going as he stood on the 17th tee, but a bogey-double bogey finish gave him a three-over 74, a seven-stroke improvement from Round 1.
Unfortunately, his 14-over total will see him miss the 36-hole cut by double digits. Of the 264 players in the field, Woods currently sits in a tie for 226th. The top 64 players will advance to the match-play portion of the championship, which begins Wednesday at Trinity Forest.

This marked Woods’ second straight appearance in the U.S. Junior Amateur, which he qualified for via a playoff at the Coral Springs, Florida, qualifying site last month. Woods also failed to make it to match play a year ago at Oakland Hills, shooting rounds of 82 and 80.

In May, Woods won the AJGA’s Team TaylorMade Invitational at Streamsong Black, shooting a final-round 66 to claim the title. He defeated the likes of lefty phenom Miles Russell, who has made three career PGA Tour starts, as well as Luke Colton and Tyler Watts, who are both ranked in the top five of the Rolex AJGA Rankings. Watts shot a pair of 68s on Monday and Tuesday, which will secure his spot inside the top 64. Russell appears more than safe, too, sitting at T-13 after shooting rounds of 67 and 72. Colton is hovering inside the top 50 early on in his second round.
