Cameron Smith. Saudi International 2023/Neville Hopwood

It was a disappointing start to the season for world No. 4 Cameron Smith as he joined big names Bryson DeChambeau and Bubba Watson on an early flight out of Jeddah after missing the cut at the Saudi International.

The Australian, who sensationally won the Open Championship at St Andrews last summer, struggled in the wind on Thursday at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club, shooting a 73, and could not get moving on moving day, with a 69 not enough to get him into the weekend as he signed for a total of two-over for the event.

It was worse for DeChambeau as the 2020 US Open champ followed up his opening 72 over the par-70 course with a miserable 75, having to settle for a seven-over total, with six bogeys littering his second round.
