On Friday, Bryson DeChambeau welcomed the weekend with a bang when he holed a seemingly impossible ping-pong ball chip shot in his living room, ending a 12-day saga that captured the hearts and minds of the golf fans across the world. The viral stunt earned one of DeChambeau’s loyal followers a new Bentley, but more importantly it cleared the LIV pro’s calendar for the weekend, allowing him to fly to Cypress Point Club and rally the troops at the 2025 Walker Cup.

There, free from the tyrannical yolk and of that little red Solo cup, DeChambeau was practically walking on sunshine as he strolled the iconic fairways of Cypress Point. In classic Bryson fashion, however, he couldn’t help but deliver another Internet-breaking moment, revealing his favourite golf hole on the entire planet. Drum roll, please …

If you had DeChambeau picking a drivable par-4 on your bingo card, go ahead and pat yourself on the back. It’s no surprise the infamously big hitter named a par 3.5 as his favourite hole in all of golf, but considering fans have never seen DeChambeau play Cypress Point, few could have guessed it lay at “Dr. MacKenzie’s” (as DeChambeau calls him) other masterpiece.

In the clip, DeChambeau called the 298-yard par-4 ninth the “greatest risk-reward hole in all of golf.” Standing on the tee, he said the hole is normally a 5-wood for him, or maybe a 4-iron if it’s playing downwind. “It’s framed by that dune behind it,” DeChambeau said, marvelling at the hole as if for the first time. “If I had to play one golf hole at the end of my life, it would be the ninth hole at Cypress Point.”

For a man who’s tee’d it up everywhere from India to Augusta National, that’s high praise, but we’ll take him at his word. For 99.9% of us, what other choice do we have?
