Though Bryson DeChambeau’s wildly successful YouTube series is called ‘Break 50,’ the irony is that DeChambeau and his various playing partners—from former President Donald Trump to Paige Spiranac—have yet to actually break 50. With season 1 coming to a close, the pressure to crack that mythical barrier is greater than ever, so this week DeChambeau called in the heavy artillery:

Phil Mickelson.

You knew it had to happen. We knew it had to happen. Even your survivalist uncle who lives off the grid and thinks 5G is stealing his dreams knew it had to happen. The viral golfer of today is teaming up with the viral golfer of yesterday, and something tells us they’re going to be the pair to finally get it done. DeChambeau has bonkers length off the tee and Mickelson’s shot-making around the greens remains unrivaled. Together they are the ideal bomb-n’-gouge duo.

Let’s just hope the pair’s team-up is better than the last one, when they lost 5&4 to Sergio Garcia and Alex Noren in Friday Foursomes at the 2018 Ryder Cup. That loss was part of an afternoon sweep for Team Europe, and kickstarted their run to a 17 ½-10 ½ blowout at Le Golf National. Even if things don’t according to plan, however, at least we now know Season 2 of ‘Break 50’ is happening. DeChambeau says the sophomore campaign will be “even better,” so we can’t wait to see who he recruits next.
