When Xander Schauffele finally picked off his first major at the PGA Championship at Valhalla in May, there was only one thing missing – his dad, Stefan, who was watching, and sobbing, from an island in Hawaii thousands of miles away.

“When the ogre is happy, he cries,” said Stefan, referring to himself by his long-held nickname. “Once he made that putt, I started melting like a piece of butter in a skillet.”

Stefan was very, very happy on Sunday at Royal Troon, where his son Xander put on a back-nine masterclass to capture his second major championship in three months. And this time, Stefan actually got to see it in person. More importantly, he got to hug his son after the final putt dropped.

Not surprisingly, the ogre could barely hold it together:

Oh yeah, that man is in a glass case of emotion:

If that doesn’t get you choked up, we’re not sure what will. Special stuff.
