No tournament produces the highest of highs and the lowest of lows quite like the U.S. Open. Over the last 24 hours, Brian Harman has experienced plenty of both at Torrey Pines.

On Friday, it was mostly highs for the former Georgia Bulldog, the main highlight being an eagle hole out from the thick rough on the longest hole on the course, the par-5 ninth. Harman finished strong from there, too, posting an even-par 71 that had him just six off the lead heading into the weekend.

The good vibes carried over into Saturday, when Harman picked up back-to-back birdies at the third and fourth holes to climb into red figures, pulling within four of the lead. Unfortunately, he gave both of those shots back, plus another, at the par-4 sixth. After missing the green in two, he blasted a sand shot to five feet, leaving himself with a makeable par putt. Instead, it was four-jack city.

Bruuutal. Fans have been looking for more carnage this week, as they are every year in this tournament. That right there is all the carnage and more. The United States Open is now officially underway.
