On Tuesday, the news we’ve all been expecting for months was finally confirmed. No, we’re not talking about the PGA Tour’s reported deal with PIF. We’re talking about Scottie Scheffler being named the 2024 PGA Tour Player of the Year.

Of all the foregone conclusions in golf, Scheffler earning the PGA Tour’s highest individual honour after a record-breaking season that saw him win the Players, Masters, Tour Championship and Presidents Cup—not to mention an Olympic gold medal—was perhaps the most predictable. At this point, the PGA Tour may as well just put Scheffler’s name on the trophy every year, and judging by Bennett Scheffler’s reaction to his dad’s latest piece of hardware, something tells us he agrees.

Safe to say the seven-month-old Scheffler was more excited for the new trophy than his old man, which makes sense considering it’s the first PGA Tour Player of the Year award Bennett has tasted (literally). Meanwhile, it’s Scottie’s third in a row, joining Tiger Woods as the only other player to earn the accolade in three consecutive seasons.

Time will tell if Bennett eventually wins a Player of the Year trophy of his own, but at this point, you wouldn’t bet against it.
