Sorry if this makes you feel ancient, but the “Tiger Slam” is now 25 years old. And that means one thing and one thing only … it’s time for a biopic.

An exclusive Deadline report broke the news that Amazon MGM Studios has landed film rights to Kevin Cook’s book “The Tiger Slam: The Inside Story of the Greatest Golf Ever Played.” The biography centers on Woods’ remarkable four consecutive majors from 2000 to 2001, and Reinaldo Marcus Green is set to direct. Green is coming off a successful sports biopic in “King Richard” depicting the Williams sisters and their tennis-obsessed father, which was ultimately nominated for six Academy Awards and won Will Smith his first Oscar.

Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground is in talks to produce along with Irwin Winkler, the man behind “Goodfellas” and iconic sports movies “Rocky” and “Creed.” This would be another sports-centric project for Higher Ground, which just recently worked on two basketball projects for Netflix: “Court of Gold,” on the 2024 Paris Olympics, and “Starting 5,” on the 2023-2024 NBA season.

Cook’s account follows Woods from golf wunderkind all the way through the 2000 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, the 2000 Open Championship at St Andrews, the 2000 PGA Championship at Valhalla and the 2001 Masters at Augusta National in which he (spoiler alert) won each one.

Jim Nantz has a blurb for the Kevin Cook biography stating that “This book is truly as grand as it gets.” We’ll find out soon if Green and the Obamas are able to capitalise on one of the more outstanding sports accomplishments in (semi-)recent history.
