For many golfers across the world, these are dark days. Courses lie under blankets of snow, you need hand warmers just to go to the mailbox and you’ve already put three holes in the living room sheetrock while working on your swing. But have hope, winter sufferers. While the real deal might be months away, 2K Sports are stepping up to the tee with the unveiling of ‘PGA Tour 2K25,’ the latest installment of their venerable PGA Tour video game franchise set to release on February 28th. Check out the first trailer below and start whipping those thumbs into shape.

Yearly sports games are often accused of merely changing the wallpaper in the same house, but ‘PGA Tour 2K5’ comes packed with a host of new features. First and foremost is the new EvoSwing mechanics, which will offer players next-gen graphical upgrades and a host of new shot types, ball flights, and roll physics to help them navigate the game’s 29 licensed courses. For the first time ever, the ‘PGA Tour 2K’ rota will feature the men’s majors (minus the Masters, which has a preexisting licensing agreement with EA Sports), including the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow, the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont and the 2025 Open Championship at Royal Portrush. The Old Course at St. Andrews will follow shortly after launch.
Playable PGA Tour pros include 2K ambassadors Tiger Woods and Matthew Fitzpatrick, as well as the newest addition to the 2K roster, Max Homa. MyPLAYER, the game’s create-a-player mode, has also been overhauled with a new attribute system and “Equipment Progression” that will allow players to rep their favourite brands on the course, from Mizuno and Callaway to Sun Day Red and Malbon. Yes, much like Jason Day, you can now ruffle virtual feathers at the majors with your unique fits.
‘PGA Tour 2K25’ will be available in physical and digital editions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and digital only for PC. Players who preorder the standard edition before the February 28th launch will be greeted by one final surprise:
Shooter McGavin.
That’s right. Christopher McDonald, who will reprise his role as the infamous golf villain in this year’s ‘Happy Gilmore 2,’ is a playable character in the game and will come outfitted with the Shooter Collection Hat, Shooter Collection Jacket and Shooter Collection shoes. Finger guns sold separately.
