After three consecutive away games, Dubai Basketball made their homecoming an unforgettable one, securing a dominant 91-76 win over Slovenia’s Krka in front of a 3,300-strong crowd and recent Race to Dubai Champion, Rory McIlroy, at Coca-Cola Arena.

The World Number Three attended the final fresh off claiming his sixth Race to Dubai title at the DP World Tour Championship just two hours earlier.

McIlroy, with trophies in tow, also took part in a “Putt for Purpose” challenge on the court. In a bid to raise AED 1 million for charity, Rory attempted a hole-in-one, but his shot narrowly missed the target by a few inches. Despite the miss, the crowd roared in support, showing their admiration for McIlroy’s efforts.

Dubai Basketball’s, JaCorey Williams, reflected on how the home crowd, along with the presence of Rory McIlroy, pushed his team’s performance. “It’s always tough to play before a break, but we stayed focused defensively, and our offence flowed from there.

“Rory is a world-class athlete, and it was amazing to meet him and see his Race to Dubai trophy in person. It was a cool moment.”
