As travelling golfers, we all have two fears: 1. that our clubs don’t make it to our destination, and 2. that they do make it, but they somehow get destroyed en route. After seeing what happened to LPGA pro-Jennifer Chang’s clubs on Monday, most of us would all sign for the former.
At least if they don’t make it, not all hope is lost. They may come the day after or the day after that, long after your golf trip is over, but they could still be intact. Unfortunately for Chang, her clubs did indeed arrive on time, but her travel bag was mangled beyond belief and her 9 iron and driver seemed to suffer the most damage:

Woof. Shots fired at Delta. That AI Smoke got absolutely SMOKED. Get it?
As Golf Channel’s Brentley Romine pointed out, Chang is 112th in points in the Race to the CME Globe, needing to get inside the top 100 at this week’s The Annika driven by Gainbridge to keep her full status on the LPGA Tour. Not the best omen to start the week in Florida:
Jennifer Chang enters this week's The Annika ranked No. 112 in points. She'll need to be inside the top 100 come Sunday evening to keep full status on the LPGA.
Safe to say her week has not gotten off to the best of starts. pic.twitter.com/ygdy3RfM8r

How, on earth, does this even happen? It’s like somebody purposely took a blowtorch to the top of the bag, then scraped the 9 iron all over the pavement. It’s happened before and it’ll happen again, too. All you can do is hope you are never on the receiving end of such a manglefest. Here’s hoping Callaway can get Chang all situated before Thursday and she can make a serious run at the top 100 with some working clubs.
