Nelly Korda has withdrawn from the next two LPGA tournaments due to injury. Korda, the World No. 1, announced on social media Monday that she hurt her neck during practice for the LPGA’s Asian swing, forcing her out of this week’s BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea as well as the upcoming Maybank Championship in Malaysia.
“I’m disappointed to miss these events and am especially sorry to my fans who were looking forward to seeing me play,” Korda said in a statement. “I’m currently resting and working with my team to get better.
“Thank you for all your support—it truly means the world to me.”
Korda did not specify a return date; the LPGA has one Asian Swing event after Malaysia before heading to the United States for the final three tournaments of the season.
Korda, 26, is in the midst of a breakthrough season, notching six wins before June, including the Chevron Championship. Korda also went 3-1 in last month’s Solheim Cup, leading the American team to victory. She leads the Race to the CME Globe standings; Korda has yet to win the season-long points title in her career.
