The exhibition between stars from LIV Golf and the PGA Tour has a date and venue.
An 18-hole made-for-TV spectacle featuring Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau that was announced last month will take place on Dec. 17 at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas, according to a press release. A time and broadcast details were not released, although the event will air on TNT Sports. (Disclaimer: Golf Digest and TNT are both owned by Warner Bros. Discovery.)
The event is not the latest iteration of “The Match” (which previously visited Shadow Creek in 2018), but instead a new entity, with the four aforementioned golfers owning a stake in the enterprise. The new series will likely take place once a year and visit international venues every other season.
Scheffler is coming off a career year in 2024, winning his second Masters, becoming the first player to successfully defend the Players Championship title and capturing the Olympic gold medal in Paris. DeChambeau punctuated the rejuvination of his reputation with his second U.S. Open triumph in June. McIlroy had three global wins this year, and Koepka—a five-time major winner—had two victories on the LIV Golf League circuit.
Details on the format have not been released, although it is expected to be a match-play competition.
The event comes as talks between the PGA Tour and LIV’s financial backer, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, continue regarding a possible unification of professional golf.
