With Paige Spiranac’s rise to the top of the golf influencer charts, it’s easy to forget that she’s a damn good stick. Spiranac played D1 college golf at Arizona and San Diego State, earning All-Conference honours in back-to-back seasons for the Aztecs. After a win, a runner-up and a handful of top 10s on the Cactus Tour, Spiranac came up short in her sole attempt to earn an LPGA Tour Card.
On Wednesday, Spiranac will make her return to tour-sanctioned golf (sort of) at the Creator Classic, a showdown between some of golf’s biggest online personalities. Despite playing against her peers (and Wesley Bryan), Spiranac’s expectations couldn’t be more relatable, saying that the only thing she expects to win is the award for most golf balls lost.
I might win most golf balls lost but that’s about it lol

If you’re wondering if anything gets Spiranac flustered, we now how have our answer: competitive stroke-play. In fact, Spiranac spent much of the week downplaying her expectations for the event, saying she expects to finish dead last while also comparing her game to Peyton Manning’s (if you saw Peyton’s BMW Championship pro-am performance last week, you know that’s not a compliment).
That’s the expected result lol

My view of Peyton Manning duffing his tee shot at the BMW Championship Pro Am…
“Anyone see where that went?” 🤣 pic.twitter.com/jM6qqY6pOi

This is about as relatable as it gets. If we were playing in this thing, we’d be popping Tums like Tic-Tacs and negging ourselves into a state of total paralysis as well. Spiranac should probably give herself more credit—if she can handle the pressure of trying to Break 50 for Bryson DeChambeau’s 1.4 million YouTube subs, she can certainly handle the couple thousand eyeballs that will be on the Creator Classic. Still, it’s a healthy reminder for us normies that not only are tour pros occasionally Just Like Us ™, so are influencers.
