Cink was in the running for the captaincy itself after Tiger Woods removed his name from contention. The 2009 Open champion played in five consecutive Ryder Cups, including the American upset at Valhalla in 2008.
Leonard, also a former Open winner, sank the winning putt at the 1999 Ryder Cup at Brookline. Furyk has three vice captain picks left should he want them.
