It’s Monday morning in America and it’s time to rise and grind once again, but first a message from our Commander in Chief, who is already wide awake tackling the big issues facing humankind:

Well, there you have it folks. The priorities of the White House this week are “sissy football” and golf ball rollback, not the assassination of political commentators, America’s continued ineptitude on the foreign stage, the National Guard rolling through city streets and a cost-of-living crisis that shows no signs of abating. We can all rest easy now.
Sarcasm aside, President Trump is right about one thing: Rollback is a hugely controversial topic … for golfers. But does the rest of America care that Rory McIlroy will soon be averaging 313 off the tee instead of 323? Do they want their highest-ranked elected official posting about it on social media while in the thrall of various crises both at home and abroad? That’s a rhetorical question, but if you thought Obama’s brackets were cringe, then logic dictates that this is too.
Of course, as we all know, President Trump is an avid golfer and fan. Perhaps the most committed 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue has ever seen. He also so happens to occupy the most powerful political office on earth. Could his grumbling be enough to convince the USGA and R&A to change their tune, leading to a delay in adoption or perhaps even bifurcation (a proposal that would see pros and Joes play differently conforming golf balls)? Who knows! At this rate, the planet might not even be here in 2028. But if you think President Trump is stubborn and used to getting his way, wait until we introduce you to a fella by the name of Mike Whan …
