The DP World Tour’s 2025 Race to Dubai season continued this week with its flagship event, the 2025 BMW PGA Championship, taking place at Wentworth Club, Surrey, England, from 09-14 September 2025.
Event number four on the Back 9, was a $9 million Rolex Series tournament, which holds a key place on the DP World Tour’s 2025 Race to Dubai, a season that concludes on the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai, UAE, in November.
Defending champion Billy Horschel and Grand Slam winner Rory McIlroy were joined by 11-time PGA TOUR winner Hideki Matsuyama. Making his BMW PGA Championship debut, the 2021 Masters Tournament winner was in the company of fellow Green Jacket winners Jon Rahm, Patrick Reed and Danny Willett.
Home favourite Tommy Fleetwood was making his first appearance since winning the PGA TOUR’s FedExCup after triumphing in the TOUR Championship at East Lake. Fleetwood has secured his spot in Europe’s 2025 Ryder Cup side, alongside McIlroy, Justin Rose, Tyrrell Hatton, Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre and Denmark’s Rasmus Højgaard, all of whom were playing this past week alongside their teammates Ludvig Åberg, Matt Fitzpatrick, Viktor Hovland and Shane Lowry.
There was a total of 12 Major Champions competing, with Pádraig Harrington, Brooks Koepka, and Adam Scott also in the field.
Also confirmed for Wentworth was Australian Rolex Series winner Min Woo Lee and Belgium’s Thomas Detry, who also made their PGA TOUR breakthroughs at the start of the 2025 season, winning the Texas Children’s Houston Open and WM Phoenix Open respectively, and fellow PGA TOUR winners Michael Kim, Si Woo Kim, Jhonattan Vegas and Kevin Yu.
Alex Noren secured his second BMW PGA Championship title after making a birdie at the first play-off hole to finally see off Adrien Saddier following an enthralling final round.
The 2025 edition of the BMW PGA Championship had a Rolex Series $9 million purse, meaning Noren walked away with $1.53m and Saddier banked $990,000.
