Time is of the essence for the players in the field at this week’s Barracuda Championship. The co-sanctioned event between the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour is an opportunity for players trying to secure their spots on the FedEx Cup and Race to Dubai points list on each tour to gain valuable points with the seasons winding down.
That will be the big benefit to the winner on Sunday at Tahoe Mountain Club in Truckee, Calif. When 54-hole co-leader Ryan Gerard hang on to win the title in the only tour event that uses a modified Stableford Scoring System, he jumped from 46th on the FedEx Cup points list to 22nd, essentially guaranteeing a top-50 finish that would get him into all the signature events in 2026, and providing a solid chance at a being among the top 30 and earning a spot into the Tour Championship.
Of course besides FedEx Cup points, they’re handing out prize money too. The overall purse for this event is $7 million with the winner earning $720,000 for his victory.
