Abu Dhabi Golf Club played host to the opening event of the 2017 Golf Digest Middle East, in association with King’s College Hospital London, Amateur Series.

Barry Griffin won division A (0-10 handicap) with 39 stableford points, four clear of Saleh Al Ameri who was second on a countback.

A countback was also needed to find the gross champion. Thomas Metzger got the nod and will now tee it up in the Golf Digest Classic, the series finale, at Emirates Golf Club on Oct. 17.

De Kock’s 34 points secured the division B (11-24 handicap) honours from Kamal Belaid (31 on countback).

The ladies title went to 14-year-old Hyeonji Kang who earned a start in the upcoming Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open Pro-Am at Saadiyat Beach courtesy of her 32 points. The Ladies European Tour event will be staged at ADGC’s sister Troon property Saadiyat Beach from Nov. 1-4.

Ping Li hit her tee shot on the 12th to 52cm to win a weekend drive in a Mercedes courtesy of the series’ official lease partner Autoroute.

A special thanks also to headline sponsor King’s College Hospital London and ECCO Golf.
