When in doubt, play it as it lies. As we’ve recently seen, pros will do anything to find a loophole in that old adage, but ever since Shooter McGavin played his ball off Mr. Larson’s size-17 foot, it has been practically written in stone. Just ask Daniel Brown, the surprise star of this year’s Open Championship, who found his ball sitting in a VERY awkward lie while in contention at the Andalucia Masters on Sunday.

Honestly, that’s a new one. We’ve seen balls bounce into drinks and golf cart cup holders. We’ve seen them end up in trees and next to snoozing alligators, but we’ve never seen one wedged in the derriere of a fan. Thankfully for both her and Brown, this is golf not a rock concert, and the Englishman did not actually have to play it as it lies.
Unfortunately, the fortuitous drop wasn’t enough to lift Brown into a playoff with Julien Guerrier and Jorge Campillo, but he still took home a memory he’ll never forget. As for the fan, well, let’s just be glad she walked away with her pride (and lower lumbar) intact.
