Tiger Woods’ Hero World Challenge has been cancelled for 2020.

The event, played the past five years at Albany G.C. in New Providence, Bahamas, was scheduled to begin Dec. 3. However, current COVID-19 restrictions and quarantine protocols in the Bahamas made hosting the tournament an impossibility.

“This decision was made with the health and well-being of all tournament constituents and the Albany community in mind,” read a statement released by the event. “We look forward to hosting 18 of the top players in the world and welcoming tournament guests to Albany, Bahamas next year.”

Woods has hosted his charity event since 2000, with the proceeds going to his TGR Foundation. The 44-year-old has won the competition five times. Though it is not considered an official event by the PGA Tour, the Hero has awarded Official World Golf Ranking points since 2009.

Golf fans will still get their fill of the sport that week, as the PGA Tour’s Mayakoba Golf Classic in Quintana Roo, Mexico is set to begin Dec. 3.
