The Danish Golf Challenge was the third European stop on the HotelPlanner Tour’s Road to Mallorca and the eighth event of the year.

Following Jonathan Gøth-Rasmussen’s narrow victory over Calum Fyfe at Bogense Golf Club last year, the Danish Golf Challenge returned to the 2000 and 2024 venue, Odense Eventyr Golf Club, some 20 miles down the road. Odense, the third largest city in Denmark, had previously seen Andreas Halvorsen emerge victorious in 2024, winning by three shots.

Scandinavians continued to dominate the list of past winners, with Swede Fredrik Henge having shot ten under par at Odense Eventyr in 2000, before Norwegian Halvorsen posted 19 under par in 2024. Gøth-Rasmussen’s victory last year continued the trend, with the Dane also finishing on 19 under par for the week, meaning low scoring was expected once again. DP World Tour winner Matteo Manassero had also been crowned champion in recent years.

It proved to be a long week for some players, with U.S. Open Final Qualifying having taken place at Walton Heath Golf Club on May 18, the Monday of the Danish Golf Challenge. Tapio Pulkkanen, Callum Farr and Jhared Hack all competed before flying out to Denmark, with Pulkkanen coming closest to qualifying after shooting eight under par across two rounds, finishing two shots short. Road to Mallorca leader MJ Daffue also performed well, shooting five under par, but did not feature in the field that week as players battled it out for the €300,000 prize pool.

Tapio Pulkkanen claimed his second HotelPlanner Tour title on Sunday, winning the Danish Golf Challenge in a dramatic play-off at Odense Eventyr Golf.

The HotelPlanner Tour arrived in Spain this week for the Challenge de Catalunya, which took place at Fontanals Golf Club from May 14–17.

The Challenge de Catalunya marked the second of ten consecutive weeks on the continent, after the Italian Challenge Open kickstarted the European leg as Chris Wood sealed an emotional victory at Golf Nazionale. Fontanals Golf Club hosted last year’s Challenge de España and, with the historic event moving to Isla Canela Links, Fontanals hosted the inaugural edition of the Challenge de Catalunya this year, with a prize fund of €300,000.

A regular stop on the DP World Tour Qualifying School schedule, the Girona-based club hosted Second Stage in each of the last two years, and will do so again later this year, with several of the players in the field having previously teed it up on the parkland layout. The club is situated near the borders of both Andorra and France and provided an interesting test as it sits 3,000 feet above sea level, with the 156-strong field needing to dial in their yardages at altitude. The closing holes also proved pivotal, with holes 16 and 18 ranking among the toughest on the course.

A number of HotelPlanner Tour members teed it up on the DP World Tour at the Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship before making the short journey from Barcelona to Girona. Road to Mallorca Number One MJ Daffue returned to HotelPlanner Tour action hunting his third win of the season, alongside former BMW PGA Championship winner Chris Wood, who looked to build on his success in Italy.

Pablo Ereno was crowned the Challenge de Catalunya champion after defeating Denmark’s Hamish Brown in a play-off at Fontanals Golf Club.

The Road to Mallorca touched down in Continental Europe for the first time in 2026 this week for the Italian Challenge Open, which took place at Golf Nazionale.

Golf Nazionale hosted the Italian Challenge Open for a fourth time this week, having first appeared on the Road to Mallorca back in 2022. Located 40 minutes north of Rome, the par 72 parkland layout ran through a mix of undulating greens, hilly terrain, water features and well-thought-out bunkering.

The first European venue on the 2026 Road to Mallorca was also home to the Italian Golf Federation’s technical centre and was the venue for the first two days of the 2023 Junior Ryder Cup before the final day’s action headed to Marco Simone Golf and Country Club.

After four co-sanctioned events in South Africa and one stop in India at the DP World PGTI Open, the Road to Mallorca hit Europe for the first time this week and remained on the continent until the end of September. The Italian Challenge Open was the first of ten consecutive events in Europe, concluding at the German Challenge powered by VcG, before a one-week break took place ahead of the Raiffeisenbank Golf Challenge.

With 2,000 Ranking points available at each event, any player who put together a strong run of consistent form massively boosted their chances of earning one of 15 available DP World Tour cards by the end of the season.

Chris Wood birdied the 72nd hole to seal his maiden HotelPlanner Tour victory at the Italian Challenge Open at Golf Nazionale.

The 2016 Ryder Cup player signed for a bogey-free final round of 66 to win in his first start of the year on the 2026 Road to Mallorca, finishing on 22 under par for the week.

The Road to Mallorca returned for the USD $300,000 DP World PGTI Open at Classic Golf & Country Club in Delhi, a co-sanctioned event between the HotelPlanner Tour and the DP World Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI).

The HotelPlanner Tour returned to Classic Golf & Country Club for the third consecutive year, following successful visits to Delhi in 2024 and 2025. In 2024, England’s John Parry claimed the title at 20 under par, finishing one shot clear of a three-way tie for second. The victory was his first in 14 years and sparked a sharp rise in the Official World Golf Rankings. Two years on, he added two more HotelPlanner Tour titles, secured his first DP World Tour win since 2010 and held dual membership with the PGA TOUR as the world number 83. In 2025, Spaniard Quim Vidal triumphed after a play-off victory over England’s Joshua Berry, and went on to earn promotion to the DP World Tour by the end of the season.

Maximilian Kieffer returned to India, the site of his maiden HotelPlanner Tour victory at the 2012 Gujarat Kensville Challenge, where he defeated Rahil Gangjee in a play-off after the pair finished tied at seven under par. That win proved the launchpad for a strong season, earning him his DP World Tour card. The German went on to spend 13 years on Golf’s Global Tour and became a winner in 2022 at the D+D Real Czech Masters. Kieffer arrived back on the HotelPlanner Tour following a tied 18th finish at the CIRCA Cape Town Open and looked to draw on his past success in India.

Situated 37 kilometres south of Delhi, Classic Golf & Country Club is South Asia’s first 27-hole signature course and was designed by Jack Nicklaus. The championship layout sits against the backdrop of the Aravalli mountains. In 2000, the venue became the first private club to host the Indian Open and staged the event again in 2001.

MJ Daffue produced a bogey-free final round to seal a second HotelPlanner Tour title in two months on a thrilling final day of the DP World PGTI Open.

The HotelPlanner Tour’s 2025 Road to Mallorca came to a conclusion this week at the Rolex Grand Final supported by The R&A, with a prize fund of €500,000—taking place from October 30-November 2nd.

Event 29 of 29 on the 2025 Road to Mallorca was making a return to Golf Club Alcanada, Mallorca, for a fifth time.

21 winners from the 2025 HotelPlanner Tour season teed it up on the Spanish island of Mallorca: Daniel van Tonder; Jamie Rutherford; Wilco Nienaber; Joshua Berry; Quim Vidal; Renato Paratore; Clement Charmasson; Jonathan Goth-Rasmussen; Rocco Repetto Taylor; Felix Mory; Palmer Jackson; James Morrison; David Horsey; Maximilian Steinlechner; David Law; JC Ritchie; Daniel Young; Oihan Guillamoundeguy; Filippo Celli; Hugo Townsend and Sebastian Garcia — all vying for a share of the $500,000 prize fund.

Who are the 45 HotelPlanner Tour players fighting for a DP World Tour card this week?

Every single person in the 45-man field could earn promotion to the DP World Tour. Spaniard Victor Pastor, who was the last man in the field, and Englishman Jamie Rutherford, who started the week occupying 20th in the Rankings and the final promotion place, were only separated by 161 points. Rutherford has 592 points, while Pastor has 431.

Just 12 months ago, the player in the final promotion place and the last player in the field arrived in Mallorca separated by 229 points, meaning that this year, the race for promotion was much tighter.

The winner at Alcanada would be awarded 640 points, second place 440 points, third 280, fourth 240 and fifth 200, all the way down to 45th place who would earn 20.80 points. No-one was out of the running to earn a life-changing card on Golf’s Global Tour.

The top 20 players on the Road to Mallorca Rankings, after the season-ending Rolex Grand Final supported by The R&A, would then earn a DP World Tour card for the 2026 Race to Dubai.

England’s James Morrison, rewrote the history books by securing victory and jumping 30 spots to 6th place and securing one of 20 DP World Tour cards.

The HotelPlanner Tour continued its two-week swing in China this week for the second edition of the Hangzhou Open on the Road to Mallorca, with a prize fund of $500,000, taking place from 9-12 October.

Event 28 of 29 on the 2025 Road to Mallorca was making a return to Hangzhou West Lake Golf Club for a second consecutive year after the course first emerged on the HotelPlanner Tour 12 months ago.

20 winners from the 2025 HotelPlanner Tour season teed it up in Hangzhou: JC Ritchie; Hugo Townsend; Anders Emil Ejlersen; Filippo Celli; David Law; Oihan Guillamoundeguy; Daniel Young; Maximilian Steinlechner; David Horsey; James Morrison; Palmer Jackson; Felix Mory; Rocco Repetto Taylor; Jonathan Goth-Rasmussen; Renato Paratore; Clement Charmasson; Quim Vidal; Joshua Berry; Wilco Nienaber; and Jamie Rutherford — all vying for a share of the $500,000 prize fund.

Designed by 18-time Major Champion Jack Nicklaus, Hangzhou West Lake Golf Club offered a championship-style test. The course, famous for its natural scenery, boasts a 7,252-yard par-72 layout, with each nine providing a very different test, according to Nicklaus himself.

As the HotelPlanner Tour stayed East, attention was on those looking to secure their place at the Rolex Grand Final later this month. The top 46 available players are set to tee it up in Mallorca, but it was the perfect opportunity for players outside the cut-off could make a late bid for promotion.

Prior to the event, Irishman Max Kennedy held the all-important 45th position, 13 points ahead of German Hurly Long, who sat outside the provisional cut-off. Frenchman Julien Quesne, Spaniard Albert Boneta and Dane Anders Emil Ejlersen were among those looking to break into the top 45 once the Hangzhou Open concluded.

The top 20 players on the Road to Mallorca Rankings, after the season-ending Rolex Grand Final supported by The R&A, will earn a DP World Tour card for the 2026 Race to Dubai.

Spain’s Sebastian Garcia became a winner on the HotelPlanner Tour for the very first time, after coming through a play-off to win the Hangzhou Open.

The HotelPlanner Tour headed to China for the 10th edition of the Hainan Open, with a prize fund of $500,000—taking place from 9-12 October.

Event 27 of 29 on the 2025 Road to Mallorca was making a return to Sanya Luhuitou Golf Club for a second consecutive year after the course first emerged on the HotelPlanner Tour schedule in 2016.

The Hainan Open marked the first of two back-to-back HotelPlanner Tour events in the Middle Kingdom, with next week’s Hangzhou Open the last stop before the Rolex Grand Final supported by The R&A.

20 winners from the 2025 HotelPlanner Tour season teed it up in Hainan: JC Ritchie; Hugo Townsend; Anders Emil Ejlersen; Filippo Celli; David Law; Oihan Guillamoundeguy; Daniel Young; Maximilian Steinlechner; David Horsey; James Morrison; Palmer Jackson; Felix Mory; Rocco Repetto Taylor; Jonathan Goth-Rasmussen; Renato Paratore; Clement Charmasson; Quim Vidal; Joshua Berry; Wilco Nienaber; and Jamie Rutherford — all vying for a share of the $500,000 prize fund.

The 7,200-yard layout, designed by American design company Mr. Nelson Haworth of N&H, is boarded by the picturesque Luhuitou Park and the South China sea, providing one of the more scenic backdrops this year.

As the HotelPlanner Tour heads East, attention will be on those looking to secure their place at the Rolex Grand Final later this month. Currently, the top 46 available players are set to tee it up in Mallorca, but with additional points on the line over the next two weeks, players outside the cut off could make a late bid for promotion.

The top 20 players on the Road to Mallorca Rankings, after the season-ending Rolex Grand Final supported by The R&A, will earn a DP World Tour card for the 2026 Race to Dubai.

Renato Paratore secured automatic promotion back to the DP World Tour after earning a third win of the season at the Hainan Open.

The HotelPlanner Tour headed to Italy for the 17th edition of the Italian Challenge Open, with a prize fund to €300,000—taking place from 18-21 September.

Event 26 of 29 on the 2025 Road to Mallorca was making its third appearance at Golf Nazionale in Sutri, Italy.

15 winners from the 2025 HotelPlanner Tour season teed it up in Portugal: JC Ritchie; Anders Emil Ejlersen; Filippo Celli; Daniel Young; Maximilian Steinlechner; David Horsey; James Morrison; Palmer Jackson; Felix Mory; Rocco Repetto Taylor; Jonathan Goth-Rasmussen; Renato Paratore; Quim Vidal; Wilco Nienaber; and Jamie Rutherford — all vying for a share of the €300,000 prize fund.

The Italian Challenge Open has provided the HotelPlanner Tour with several memorable moments through the years, with a host of notable names making their mark.

Matteo Manassero is the most recent home player to have triumphed at the event back in 2023, en route to securing his return to the DP World Tour by claiming an emotional three-stroke victory at Golf Nazionale. By winning, he became the third Italian champion of the event, joining 2023 European Ryder Cup Vice Captain, Edoardo Molinari, and Matteo Delpodio, who triumphed in 2009 and 2015 respectively.

To date, Portugal’s Ricardo Gouveia is the only player to win the event twice, doing so for the first time in 2014 before he added a second title seven years later in 2021.

Golf Nazionale, home of the Italian Golf Federation technical centre, is located near the city of Rome, and recognised as one of the best golf courses in continental Europe and one of the most challenging courses in Italy, which follows the natural undulations of the hilly terrain. Golf Nazionale provides a true test of golf for the highest calibre of golfer due to the deep rough, undulated greens, water features and numerous strategically placed bunkers. Players must also consider the sharp elevation changes which bring about some spectacular views over the Lazio countryside.

The course was designed by Jim Fazio, with the help of the Italian architect David Mezzacane and opened in 1990. In 1991 the course hosted the World Cup of Golf which saw Swedish duo Anders Forsbrand and Per-Ulrik Johansson claim victory by one stroke over Welsh pair Ian Woosnam and Phillip Price.

The top 20 players on the Road to Mallorca Rankings, after the season-ending Rolex Grand Final supported by The R&A, will earn a DP World Tour card for the 2026 Race to Dubai.

South African JC Ritchie secured his third win of the season in Italy and automatic promotion to the DP World Tour.

The HotelPlanner Tour travelled to Portugal for the Open de Portugal at Royal Óbidos last week, with an increased prize fund to €300,000— which took place from 11-14 September.

Event 25 of 29 on the 2025 Road to Mallorca was making its sixth appearance at Royal Óbidos.

20 winners from the 2025 HotelPlanner Tour season teed it up in Portugal: Hugo Townsend; Anders Emil Ejlersen; Filippo Celli; David Law; Oihan Guillamoundeguy; Daniel Young; JC Ritchie; Maximilian Steinlechner; David Horsey; James Morrison; Palmer Jackson; Felix Mory; Rocco Repetto Taylor; Jonathan Goth-Rasmussen; Clement Charmasson; Renato Paratore; Quim Vidal; Joshua Berry; Wilco Nienaber; and Jamie Rutherford — all vying for a share of the €300,000 prize fund.

The Open de Portugal boasts a storied history in European Golf, having first been staged over 70 years ago. It became part of the European Tour schedule in 1973 and remained a fixture until 2010.

The tournament returned to the schedule in 2017 as a dual-ranked event with the HotelPlanner Tour, taking place at Morgado Golf & Country Club, and has remained on the Road to Mallorca schedule since then, with Royal Óbidos taking over as the venue in 2020.

Situated in dunes by the Atlantic Ocean, the golf course at Royal Óbidos opened in 2012 after being designed by golfing legend Seve Ballesteros, who took advantage of the land’s natural undulation to subtly blend in the layout with its surroundings.

The 7,200-yard course demands length off the tee and with water hazards coming into play on many holes through an intricate system of lakes and streams, precision is crucial – especially on approach shots into undulating greens, many of which are surrounded by water.

JC Ritchie birdied his final three holes to seal a second HotelPlanner Tour win of 2025 at the Open de Portugal at Royal Óbidos.

The HotelPlanner Tour travelled to Poland for the second edition of the GAC Rosa Challenge Tour this past week, with an increased prize fund to €300,000—taking place from 04-07 September.

Event 24 of 29 on the 2025 Road to Mallorca was making its second appearance at Rosa Golf Club. The HotelPlanner Tour has visited Poland seven times previously.

16 winners from the 2025 HotelPlanner Tour season were teeing it up in Poland: Anders Emil Ejlersen; David Law; Oihan Guillamoundeguy; Daniel Young; JC Ritchie; Maximilian Steinlechner; David Horsey; Felix Mory; Rocco Repetto Taylor; Jonathan Goth-Rasmussen; Clement Charmasson; Renato Paratore; Quim Vidal; Joshua Berry; Jamie Rutherford and Daniel Van Tonder — all vying for a share of the €300,000 prize fund.

Rosa Golf Club, situated in the city of Czestochowa, was designed by architect Hans-Georg Erhardt and opened its doors in 2005. The parkland layout was built to exacting USGA specifications, with the build process seeing over a million cubic metres shifted during construction.

Water hazards are a feature throughout the golf course, with interconnected lakes creating several intimidating approach shots. The 192-metre 14th and 172-metre 17th are two testing par threes on the back nine, with both protected by water.

The facilities are also second-to-none, with 80 driving range bays, a 1,500 metre square practice putting green and a modern clubhouse to rival most others.

Sweden’s Hugo Townsend won his maiden HotelPlanner Tour title at the GAC Rosa Challenge Tour, after rounds of 69, 63, 64 and 69 for a 15-under total and a two-shot victory.
