The second event of the Al Naboodah Trophy Junior Par 3 series produced some impressive golf at Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club on March 17.
Here are the winners from the UAE PGA event which has been resurrected following a seven year hiatus (from L to R): Griffen McCarragher, Zahia Hoosen (both AESGC), Sean Cooper (JGE) and Peter Whittaker (AESGC), pictured with Al Ain’s head teaching pro Fraser McLaughlin.
Cooper won division one with a gross score of 25, a highly impressive two-under par on Al Ain’s par-3 academy course. Whittaker was second a shot further back.
In division B, McCarracher won with a 33, two clear of Hoosen who signed for an eight over 35.
The next round is scheduled for Arabian Ranches on April 7. Dubai Creek (April 28) will also host a leg before the series’ grand final at Emirates G.C. on May 12.
Sean Cooper is clearly a player to watch.
The Jumeirah Golf Estates junior’s division one win comes fresh from his impressive victory at the U.S. Kids Golf Foundation-sanctioned Australian Open in late January. Cooper won the under-10 division at Riverside Oaks Golf Resort near Sydney with an impressive three-under total of 141 following rounds of 73-68. He edged American Nathan Miller by three shots.
Cooper won at Al Ain with two birdies and seven pars, the gains impressively coming on his final two holes, the 9th and the 1st (he started on the 2nd in the shotgun start format).
Well played Sean!
