Jumeirah Golf Estates recently hosted their first Junior Club Championship with 21 Junior Members competing across both the Earth and Fire Course in a 36-hole Strokeplay event.
After a super round of 71, gross one under par, around the Earth course, followed by a 73 over the Fire course, Lukas Astrom was crowned the 2025 Jumeirah Golf Estates Junior Club Champion on a total of 144 (gross level par).
Lukas led from the front after an impressive opening round on the Earth course and held his nerve to finish in style with birdies on the final two holes. His strong finish was just enough to fend off his brother, Simon Astrom to secure victory.
Simon’s rounds of 74 and 71 gave him a total of 145, one over par, earning him a well-deserved runner-up spot, while third place went to Samarbir Kochar, who posted rounds of 74 and 82 to finish on a total of 156, 12 over par.

Rees Hitchen – JGE Net Junior Club Champion
There was superb golf from Rees Hitchen in the second round, which saw him crowned Net Junior Club Champion. The talented youngster opened with a net 74 on the Earth course and surged up the leaderboard on Day 2 with a remarkable net 66, six under par, for a winning total of 140, four under par for the Championship.
Just one shot behind in second place was Thomas Hart, who posted rounds of 76 and 65 for a total of 141, three under par. Hart’s net 65 — the lowest score of the weekend — wasn’t quite enough to overtake Hitchen’s performance.
Rounding out the top three was Sam Collier, who recorded net scores of 75 and 71 to finish on 146, two over par. It was a strong final round from Collier, who climbed the leaderboard impressively on Sunday to secure a well-earned podium finish.
Cameron McWhinnie, Assistant Golf Services Manager at Jumeirah Golf Estates spoke at the Prize Presentation following the close of play, “It has been the upmost pleasure hosting this event for the first time at Jumeirah Golf Estates, as we are passionate about facilitating more opportunities for Juniors to compete more frequently in elevated events like this Junior Club Championship.
“You [all competitors] should all be incredibly proud of the display of golf you put on this weekend, the conditions and course setup were difficult, but this was not reflected in the impressive scoring across both days so well done to you all! We must also thank our Agronomy Team for presenting us with such great on-course conditions as always, this weekend.”
