Louis Oosthuizen withdrew from the Wyndham Championship Wednesday evening.

The tour did not give a reason why Oosthuizen, who was the highest-ranked player (No. 7 in the OWGR) in the field, opted out of the regular-season finale.

The 2010 Open champ is enjoying a fruitful, if somewhat bittersweet, campaign. Oosthuizen entered the week eighth in the FedEx Cup standings and ranks second in strokes gained. He also has a whopping six top-three finishes, four of which have come in the superseason’s six majors, yet does not have a win to show for his efforts.

Wes Roach will take the place of Oosthuizen. Roach has made the cut in seven of 13 starts this season, but entering the Wyndham at No. 208 in the FedEx Cup means he’ll need a win this week to make the tour’s postseason.
