It has now been a month and two days since X/Twitter legend Max Homa has sent a post/tweet. According to the real-life version of Homa, who played in his final TGL match of the season on Tuesday night, that streak is not ending any time soon.

In fact, Homa may be leaving the app that made him (golf) famous for good. Following Jupiter Links’ 9-1 defeat at the hands of the Atlanta Drive, Homa was asked if he’d be returning to the bird app now that the simulator league’s regular season has ended. Unlikely.

“No, I think I’ve finally had a come-to-Jesus moment that it’s for the sick,” Homa said. “I was sick. I’m just trying to get healthy now.”

In fairness to Homa, speaking from personal experience, X/Twitter has become more addicting than it ever was pre-Elon Musk. Whatever is being done with the algorithm, it’s working on many of us. There are times where I’m mindlessly scrolling and look up and realise that I’ve been doing so for an hour, or longer. It is a sickness, as Homa says.

Of course, Homa going cold turkey does happen to coincide with his recent on-course slump. After winning six times on the PGA Tour between 2019 and 2023, then contending at the 2024 Masters, Homa has had just one top-10 finish in his last 18 tour starts. In 2025, which began with an apparel and equipment switch, Homa has missed two of five cuts and withdrew from the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines after a first-round 77. He undoubtedly has had to scroll through a sea of negativity on social media over the last 11 months or so that, in his mind, has made it no longer worth it to even log on.

“I have not enjoyed that app,” he said. “It’s not very fun. It’s fun to watch our little highlights or lowlights, and that stuff is fun. The rest of it’s probably not great, so I’m going to stick to TikTok.”

In other words, Homa is hopping from one social media addiction to the next. How millennial of him. Listen, man, been there.

If Homa returns to form, could he return to Twitter? We shall see. For now, pour one out for a legend.
