The PGA Tour reached its third event of the season, the first back on the mainland and in California for the American Express.
The three-course rotation over the first three rounds included stops at the Pete Dye Stadium Course, La Quinta Country Club and the Nicklaus Tournament Course. The top 65 and ties after 54 holes played the final round on the Stadium Course, where it was Sepp Straka needed only a Sunday 70 to cap off a two-shot victory, good for his third PGA Tour win. Straka took home $1.584 million for his victory in Palm Springs from the overall $8.8 million purse. Justin Thomas was second and took home $959,200 and goes over $60 million in career earnings.
Justin Lower and Jason Day tied for third place. Patrick Cantlay and Charley Hoffman tied for fifth place.
Up next is the Farmers Insurance Open, where both Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa will not be in the field. The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the WM Phoenix Open are then the next two events.
Here’s the rundown of what each player earned who made the cut at the American Express.
