Taylor Moore celebrates with the trophy after winning the Valspar Championship. Douglas P. DeFelice

Following the Players Championship, and the whopping $25 million purse last week, the largest in the history of the PGA Tour, it appeared this week’s Valspar Championship would get lost in the shuffle.

Not the case.

Of course, there wasn’t as much overall firepower in the field, but still, it was a fun show to watch with an interesting finish.

Taylor Moore shot a final-round 67 on Sunday at Innisbrook Resort and sat in the clubhouse at 10-under total watching Adam Schenk and Jordan Spieth play the last few holes while tied. Spieth made bogey on the par-4 16th, just missed birdie on the 17th and closed with a bogey to miss out on a playoff by two shots. Schenk, like Moore, looking for his first PGA Tour victory, drove it well left off the 18th tee and ultimately made bogey. Taylor won, and took home the $1,458,000 first-place prize from an $8.1 million total purse.

It marked the last event of an eventful Florida Swing. Chris Kirk got things started at the Honda Classic, Kurt Kitayama won the crazy see-saw duel at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler ran away with the Players last week at TPC Sawgrass.
Here’s the prize money payout for each golfer who made the cut this week at the Valspar.
