Lucas Glover and Cameron Smith might be on a hot streak in world golf right now, but closer to home, a Dubai resident has been making waves of his own on the local scene.
Fresh from winning the Golf Digest Play & Stay event at Yas Links Abu Dhabi and Yas Acres Division A in June, James Finnigan has gone on a hot streak.
The Scotsman teamed up with Alan McNamara to claim the Thursday Curry Club Pairs Scramble across the front nine of the Fire course at Jumeirah Golf Estates earlier this month.
And the pair were at it again this past weekend as they won the Jumeirah Pairs by The Lounge Spa on Sunday over JGE’s Earth course, seeing off 29 other pairings to claim top spot.
The format was a Pairs Shambles where each player tees off their own ball and the best one is selected. From the selected tee shot both players play their own ball until the hole is finished.
The winning score was net 63, nine-under, ahead of runners-up Simon Pearson and David Martin (net 64). Third-place went to Steve Noon and Andrew Speirs , who just missed out on second spot on a card play-off.
The most recent Curry Club was fought out by 20 pairs, with Rony El Haber and Simon Pearson (net 32) taking the prize on count back from Brandon Grieve and Rob Whelan, Peter Martensson and Men’s Vice Captain Noel O’Leary.
To prove you can’t win them all, Finnigan and McNamara came fourth on count back.
