Paul Donovan and Neil Phillips are through to the 19th Xerox Corporate Golf Challenge Grand Final but the latest “Race to Earth” qualifier was a photo finish.
Representing Arbuthonot Latham, the duo produced a better-ball net score of 68 at Trump International Golf Club, Dubai in the region’s premier amateur event.
But Donovan and Phillips, pictured accepting their prizes from The Xerox Emirates General Manager Chris Govier, needed a count-back to overcome Akash Kumar and Anaud Kapoor after the Midcom pair also signed for a three-under net score.
The leading teams will now contest the 19th XCGC Grand Final at Jumeirah Golf Estates on December 16-17.
The next two UAE qualifiers are scheduled for Ajman and Dubai.

So close: Akash Kumar and Anaud Kapoor were runners-up on countback but have the consolation of qualifying for December’s big 36-hole final.
Xerox Emirates hosted an exclusive reception after the golf with hosted tastings from fine Meluha cigars and select beverages from MMI’s top shelf.
Yves Buchard and Barry Bavid (Team REA) won the gross prize with a 74.
They will now contest the City Tower Real Estate Cup, a new initiative this year to entice lower handicap players, at the JGE final on December 16-17.
The IG tent was a popular pit-stop during play.
